On his debut album “Critiques” London born, Peckham raised Artist Femi Badero seeks to explore, understand and laminate the fundamental truths about both his existence and experiences up until this point through the critical analysis of his innate human condition alongside both his immediate and wider environment.

Throughout the duration of the 7 track album, themes such as the humans search for meaning, our relationship with the earth, the moral and ethical value systems we abide by and the state of democracy intertwine to create a complex and nuanced project, which sees Femi at his most vulnerable.

Critiques takes on a minimalist approach with production from the Ugly Corners collective which the artist belongs to. The project has a stripped back, ambient and atmospheric feel accompanied by dense poetry like lyricism as the Peckham raised artist scrapes the recesses of his mind.

The word “Critiques” deriving from the greek word kritike tekhne (“critical art”) means to provide an analysis or assessment of something, through varied mediums such as literature, political theory and philosophy. Femi Badero’s “Critiques” stands as a piece of art reflecting the artist's questioning of all which has stood true to him since his inception and the reckoning of his existence which culminates in a philosophical viewpoint which can be heard lamented over the duration of his debut album.

“Critiques” hereby accentuates the freedom in being able to question your position, understanding exactly where you stand and finding an internal state where one can move forward from amidst the turbulence of life, a celebration of Femi’s newfound independence. The project serves as a message to both Femi and his audience to continuously question and critique that which we see and hold as true.
